Welcome to the printshop, where we use a 15th century printing process and create unique and wearable art, just for you.
What our process looks like:
The Design.
It all begins with a simple idea for a design. It is sketched and drawn to size using only line work in black that is then transferred over to the block.
The Woodblock.
The woodblock is to become a reverse image for the design. Once the lines have been transferred and redrawn onto the wood, all the negative space around the line work is removed using wood gouges.
The Printing.
After the block is carved and sealed, ink is applied evenly along the raised surfaces and run under high pressure through our printing press. The ink transfers and flips onto the fabric to create the permanent image.
